How we're dealing with Covid-19 here at Nurturing by Nature

We know that community means many things to many different people but at its heart, is a sense of belonging. In a strange way, whilst Covid-19 has isolated so many, it has also united a nation, brought communities closer together & focused our thoughts on our beloved NHS.

Redistributing supplies of goats milk to help a Dorset farmer

Serving our raw feeding community is at the heart of everything we do at Nurturing by Nature. Being part of a community has never been more important as Covid-19 has swept through the nation & had a dramatic effect on almost everyone, in one way or another.

How apt then should it be that a member of our raw feeding community thought of us when they saw a post on a Dorset community social media page. They shared the post to us & within 24 hours a local farmer went from throwing goats milk down the drain, to borrowing a bottling plant from a neighbour, pouring the milk into bottles & suppling Nurturing by Nature with Goats milk for the cats and dogs of our raw feeding community.

The Facebook post read……..”Anyone need any goats milk for your animals? It is getting thrown away as our buyer is now not buying all the milk due to corona….”

Goats milk has long been a staple part of the Nurturing by Nature Raw diet as it contains so many healthy values these aid digestion and are full of vitamins, enzymes & minerals.

It’s fantastic to have Goats Milk back in stock, in our stores and online and it is also a fantastic feeling to know that in a very small way we are able to help members of our local community.

We have committed to hundreds of litres a month as we believe in this product so much. A product that for so long we have never had enough of - In these strange times I hope that we can change the farmers fortune not only for him but also his herd. They should not be forgotten either as a down turn in production will also affect them too.

Sadly, we are no longer able to sell this as a Raw product, we have been advised that due to current legislation that only the Farmer is able to sell Raw goats milk directly to the consumer- as a third party, even though it is produced for us we are not permitted to sell this product raw. We still wanted to support our farmer though so we continue to sell Goats Milk but we now sell it pasturised- it is still not homoganised. It is still a fantastic product and you can re introduce the bacteria with a natural live yoghurt or by adding Kefir to the meal.

I don’t think at the start of 2020 anyone really understood the threat Covid-19 posed. I certainly didn’t think that countries would go into lockdown. Yet not half way through the year & the world has dramatically changed. The dog walk has never felt like such a privilege and for some weeks now many of us have experienced a life at home with our cats & dogs, looking forward to the daily walk - the highlight of our day. I bet many of them are wondering what us humans are doing home so much….
