The Origin of our Story: Fred's Journey to Wellness

Our brand was born when Fred, our founder's family boxer dog, developed a cancerous growth. This unfortunate event triggered a transformative journey into the world of pet nutrition. We soon realised that just as humans benefit from a fresh and balanced diet, so do our four-legged friends. And thus, Fred's diet—and life—changed for the better with fresher, healthier ingredients.

The Philosophy: Natural Raw Pet Food

From our research, it became abundantly clear that a natural, raw diet could dramatically improve the overall health of family pets. Think of it as the pet equivalent of a post-Christmas detox for humans. A more natural diet, low in processed foods and high in natural raw pet food, had our furry family members visibly thriving.

Quality Over Quantity: How Pet Food is Made at Nurturing by Nature

Today, our core values focus on offering a variety of high-quality, human-grade ingredients. Our meticulous processing techniques, with minimal intervention, preserve the integrity of these ingredients. The European Pet Food Organisation supports our views, pointing out that:

• Dogs need a balanced ratio of calcium to phosphorus, along with sufficient vitamin D for strong bones and teeth.


• Fats and oils are vital energy sources, especially for active and larger dogs.


• Protein sustains muscle mass.

All of these are effortlessly met in a varied natural raw pet food diet, which is exactly how we formulate our products.

The Contrast this with how commercial pet food is typically made is stark & while these brands still have your pet's needs in mind, other factors like shelf life, processing ease, and commercial viability often compromise quality. Many of the processing processes have also been designed to allow poor quality ingredients to be turned into a valuable commodity with often goodness such as vitamins, nutrients & flavours sprayed on at the end of the processing cycle. 

Whilst we understand this, it is not what we believe is the most nutritious  diets for our Cat’s & Dog’s. 

Common terms in Comercial pet food & what they mean 

Animal by-product - Lower-quality by-products might include parts that are less nutritious & a low value ingredient.

Rendered protein - Typically poor quality ingredients have been cooked & processed into a powder. 

Fortified - Extra vitamins and minerals have been added to the food.

We've faced many such hurdles in our early days, but chose to remain committed to crafting high-quality raw pet food. When it comes to ingredients, you won't find fillers like cereals, wheats, or rice in our products. These may be low-cost options for commercial manufacturers, but they offer little nutritional value & at Nurturing by Nature, we stick to what pets would naturally eat, ensuring they not only live but thrive & you will too.
