Raising the Standard in Raw Pet Food Manufacturing

Raw feeding has come a long way but in the founding days of the early 2000's, the strict regulations that, you’ll find in other parts of the food industry hadn't quite found their way to cover Raw Pet Food. At the time when our founder, founded Nurturing by Nature it was very much down to each individual businesses to choose to do more. At Nurturing by Nature that was exactly what we decided to do. It was our founding desire to aligne to not just the Uk Standards but the globally recognised standards. 

We proudly hold an APHA Raw Pet Food Manufacturing Licence and for us, that’s just the starting point. We’ve chosen to go further by voluntarily aligning ourselves with BRCGS Food Safety Standards, globally recognised benchmarks usually reserved for human food manufacturing. Although we do not hold acreditation because we opporate withing the Pet Food Industry our standards match those required for BRC acreditation. Think Red Tractor and then go above these levels. 

What does that mean in real terms? It means your pet’s food is handled with the same care, safety and quality controls as the food you eat yourself.

Behind every meal we prepare is a robust Quality Management System (QMS), designed and implemented by our in-house expert, Susan Sharp DipQ. Susan has overhauled our internal processes to reflect BRCGS best practices. These include:

• Full traceability of every ingredient


• Rigorous hygiene and safety protocols


• Regular staff training and audits


• Risk-based hazard controls


• Supplier approval and quality checks

It’s not required but we believe your pet deserves the best, and that includes a food journey that's traceable, tested, and transparent.

From day one, over 20 years ago, our founder set out to do something different. Raw feeding wasn’t popular or widely understood, but she believed in its benefits and built a brand on that belief. That spirit still fuels everything we do.
