In the heart of us pet owners, lies a desire to see our beloved cats or dogs thrive, embodying health and happiness in its most vibrant form. At Nurturing by Nature, we understand this better than most, after all a happy healthy pet makes us happy owners too. Our journey began with a belief that this heavily processed, brown & dry pet food, fed out of a bag, couldn’t honestly be the best food for our own family pet’s. This belief started a journey of research, study & discovery back in the late 90’s.
Nettie our founder, started to believe that the most natural, most nutritious of diets for our pets, was a raw pet food diet. Inspired by nature’s natural behaviours, our pet’s biological make up, all supported by the study & research. (Watch the story here on our YouTube Channel.)
Supported by the research & study Nettie's mind was made up to switch the pet’s diets to raw. Then when Fred the family boxer dog was diagnosed with cancer. (Read Fred's story here.) It was at this moment Nettie knew it was time to make a change. Like most pet owners do, she worried about the change of diet, she worried about the new food & was nervous to make the switch but she knew that she had to make the switch. Switching to Raw became the best thing Nettie ever did & within day’s Fred had his bounce back, his poo’s had become smaller & his skin, teeth & eyes all seemed to have a sparkle back to them. This was over 20 years ago now, the rest they say is history. Nurturing by Nature’s history.
The method is simple yet profound: Starting with an affordable base ingredient, build a complete, nutritionally balanced diet over time by incorporating a variety of proteins, meal types, and nutrient-rich ingredients over time.
The base ingredient keeps the diet affordable & sustainable. Feeding different protein sources supports the building of a complete & varied diet. Different meal types, such as minced product, chunks, bone meals such as carcasses or ribs, provide a wide ranging variety of enrichment & health benefits, that stimulate your pet in more ways than just nutritional their nutritional needs. They now have to think about how to eat their food & this is incredibly benefitting to their overall health. Lastly different ingredients such as hearts, liver, offals, tripe etc, all add different nutrients into your pet’s meal & raw diet over time. Raw and fed in balanced amounts you will allow your pet to receive all of the nutrients they would naturally, had your pet not been as fortunate to live along side you in your home & instead be fending for themselves in the wild. Our ingredients we provide aim to mirror the diverse dietary intake of wild ancestors, promoting physical health and mental stimulation in a balanced & complete diet, fed over time. Not a complete meal. All whilst being sympathetic to our modern day busy lives & homes.
